What Causes Flickering Lights?

29 Jun

Do you have annoying flickering lights in your home that you can’t seem to fix? What causes flickering lights? While flickering lights may seem like a simple nuisance to a homeowner, the presence of such a faulty light could be a sign of a more serious underlying electrical service problem.

What causes flickering lights?Flickering Lights and House Fires

Believe it or not, the main cause of house fires is loose wiring, and often times loose wiring presents itself as flickering lights. Because of this, Attaboy Electrical technicians take the presence of flickering lights very seriously. An Attaboy electrician will not only try to fix the immediate problem of the flickering light, but will inspect the home thoroughly to ensure that there is no presence of loose wiring anywhere else in the home.

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, house fires still occur in over 1 million American homes each year. These fires result in billions of dollars’ worth of damage and thousands of people injured or killed. The devastating toll of house fires serves as a reminder for us to be extra cautious when inspecting a home with the presence of flickering lights and potential electrical safety hazards.

Flickering Lights and Voltage Fluctuation

If you find your lights tend to flicker longer than the use of the appliance, your home may be fluctuating power too much. Electricity typically flows into homes at around 120 volts with some fluctuation, anything above that range is a sign of a voltage fluctuation. Not only is it unsafe for your home, it’s unfriendly to your wallet having so much electricity running in your home inefficiently. Getting your voltage checked by an electrician is always a good idea in this case.

First off I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question in which
I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out
how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing.
I’ve had trouble clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
I do take pleasure in writing but it jus seems like the first 10
to 15 minutes are usually lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
    Thank you!

slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a problem on my
end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
